While I'm on the job, may I gently, quietly  but firmly point out that it would be a far finer feat to finish those socks instead of talking about them (size 10 inches, 8 boot). In the absence of the sox the delightful dissertation about 'beautifully knitted' etc etc falls on deaf ears (& cold feet).   I spose the war will be over before I get them.   One of your letters was dated July 19 & took nearly 8 weeks to get here.   I'l have to shoot the postman.
