We lunched at a delightful Golf Club House (in Surrey or Sussex) called New Zealand. [Addlestone, Surrey] I dont know why. I ate wisely & well (for little Mary is not yet fit to do her duty thoroughly). Then we crossed & recrossed old Father Thames. Saw Putney, Staines, Woking & a score of villages I remember not. I was interested in the old barges that crawl along the canals. The river is very pretty in places. I want to see more of it. We touched 3 or 4 different counties. Seems like we could have run from one side of the island to the other in a day.. The towns are so close the suburbs of each touch.
