which disturbed Cairo on Good Friday. A thousand soldiers started to paint the town red and set the Thames Nile on fire. They smashed windows, raided houses and restaurants & generally played the very Devil. Order was only restored after the military was called out & several shots fired & some men wounded. As the authorities have only published the above bare details I suppose I should not add any more. Col Ryries brigade fortunately were not concerned.. Only a few of our fellows were in town & they took no part in the rioting. The New Zealanders were the chief offenders .
The Gizera Sporting Club are starting to practice for the cricket season. They have an excellent ground & I hope to get a game or two but it is 10 miles away & I don't expect to get much practice. Anyway I want to get a few runs and a few wickets to let Jim see that I an not quite a 'hasbeen".
I have had a few games of tennis & have won most of these but never get much practice and am hardly in tip top form. There are several excellent courts in Ma'adi & Cairo.
We are all watching with profound interest the epochal happenings in the Dardanelles.
