You will have heard all about the fighting in the Dardanelles. My information is from the wounded who we bring back to the Base Hospital in large numbers. But it is scrappy. One man only knows what happened to his own Company. Another got to shore at 4AM with the landing party. At 6 AM he was back on the boat shot in the leg & I'm seeing some of the wounded officers this afternoon & will soon be able to give you a bit more real news.
A terrible lot of our officers were killed & wounded. I wont mention any names as I'm not sure. One of the headquarters staff said yesterday that 3 Australian Light Horse Brigades would be in Turkey within 3 weeks. Ours will go first or second so we ought to be having a crack at the Turks by the time this news gets home.
I'm fit & well & impatient to be off. I'll take good care of myself & if necessary I'll do what old John Struck Oil Stofel tried to do & get behind another fellow.
