Suez was our next port of call & it was really worth seeing. The impression I took away was not the crowds of niggers, Arabs, Egyptians & Sudanese in the bumboats, not the quaint sailing craft not the square roofed houses of the Asiatic quarter & not the picturesque palm fringed residences of the British & French residents. The chief thing that attracted me was the wonderful pea green, eau de nil colourings of the water. All round was bleak mountains & sand sand sand. The sunset glow was something to remember. The light green waters that lap the shores are just like the pictures that we used to think were impossible.
