(it was 3 AM) while supervising the building of dug outs under fire. Its wonderful how soon we get used to anything. The constant rattle of musketry now flows on unnoticed . Even the booming of our cannon is ignored, but we cannot help dodging when the shrapnel shells are screaming overhead.   We are holding our own well here & general Liman Von Sanders is as angry with the Australians as the German emperor was with French's little army. But neither of them has been able to drive the British into the sea...I'm really falling asleep - had 1 ¼ hours sleep last night. Hurrah for Light Horse!
