My dear Jessie Jean
Yours of May 9 (in which you   give the invaluable intelligence that you have just washed your hair) came duly to hand & was received  welcomed & scanned with due honour & with a fitting sense of the kindness conferred upon me. I know that for days your hair wont keep tidy & the hairpins will all fall out but that is part of the price you must pay for beautys aids. I was sorry however to hear that you had not added your name to the 20 who gave  £500 to the Belgian fund. But maybe you are going to give  £1,000   later on. (Swish, swank).

I suppose by this you are flying all over the Rouchel  Brook & startling the natives & witching the world with wonderous horsemanship. If so you can sympathise with me for having to leave 'Herald' & 'Jeane' in Egypt. But we are hoping that it wont be long before we get them & then Ho for Constantinople & the downfall of Turkey.
