(The bugle and alarm bell just sounded for boat drill. In a moment there was wild bustle and excitement, and there was a wild rush for life belts. In about a minute the whole Ships Company was at stations, standing beside the boats ready for launching.
Then came fire drill. At the alarm there was another wild Irish rush, the hydrants were all manned etc & we were ready for emergencies. Having concluded our usual Sunday mornings work (including church Parade) I now return to my pleasure of writing to you. Later on I hope to have the joy of reading scores of letters from you. You cant write too many).
I expect the mail to close tomorrow so that all the letters can be censored by the time we reach [deleted]. I nearly gave the show away there, didnt I? We must not mention ships or ports or anything like that.
Did I tell you about the "Trumpeter". This is the journal of the ship. I am the proud & happy father & Editor.
