Greetings.
It is quite within the bounds of possibility that for some time to come long letters will be very few and far between. So now that I can snatch an hour from inexorable duty, I hasten to do so. Actual news has been rather scanty. We are still in Egypt preparing to play our part in the big game. Our training has been hard and continuous & we can rest assured that when we take the field we will do no discredit to Australia and sunny New South Wales. Failing the real news - which I'm prevented from sending - there may be some interest taken by you in my own personal experiences. I seem to be always on the go and I have met so many nice folk that when I do get a few hours off I can spend them most pleasantly. The Maadi folk are particularly kind. When the nights were bitterly cold they placed their bathrooms (plus the native attendants) at the disposal of the officers . So we always enjoyed the luxury of a warm bath 6 times a week when we were too cowardly to attack the shower. I really did face the shower for a space but the water was icy cold and cut like a knife.
