a very busy time yet withal a very pleasant time. Maadi is a nice little variegated oasis on the banks of the old Nile. The residents here mostly English are very kind.

I'm on the Special Recreation Committee and have met a lot of nice folk. All my horses landed in fine fettle, Herald especially.   Its bitterly cold here at night and early morning. I'm glad of my Balaclava Cap and wallaby rug. At midday it is so warm I'm glad of my helmet.

I've never felt in better health in my life. Cairo is only 8 miles away and I run in now & then. Its a wonderful old place The post cards will give you some idea of it. Will tell you more about it later on.

Best love to all at home.
Remember me kindly to all inquiring friends specially Aunty Lizzie and Lady Carruthers, the Williamses, Tess   & the glacie bunch.

Yours ever
Ol
