a wild cacophony of feeling when our convoy arrived.   Thousands of Egyptians, Arabs, Sudanese Niggers & Whites of all shades & nationalities assembled on the foreshores & Cooeed madly. We cooeed & cheered & it was fine.   There were several English & French & a few Australian ladies about & they came off in boats. When we anchored, the boats swarmed around, as they always do in the East & we bought millions, I mean thousands, I mean hundreds, I mean we bought a lot of postcards & other things.   At the end of the town, a number of aeroplanes & hydroplanes were lying and soon they roared aloft and circled all round our fleet. That's all.
Lots of love,
Ol
