& Catherine Howard & Catherine Parr & all the rest of his wives - one at a time of course. There's a miniature lake & fountain in the centre & a statue of a lady walking down from an arbour to the water. She looks 'terrible' cold. Theres an old vine in a glasshouse   - the oldest vine in England & it's miles long - I mean all the branches added together. The trunk is about 4 feet in circumference. I was sorry to leave the old place....

We saw as we motored along scores of famous old English inns - The Star & Garter, The Mitre (might a been there in Wolsey's time) The White Hart, The [indecipherable], The Old Windsor  etc.etc.  I
