Ye Trenches
Anzac 14.6.15

My dear Jessie Jean
This be a note not a letter Cos Im in the trenches all the time now and I have not too much room or time or nothing. Its great being in the firing line and really doing something. Staff officers run the whole show I know but I've got permission to take charge of a section of our trenches for a while & its much better fun doing more of the actual fighting. The Turkeys are only 100 yards in front of my trench   and their snipers sneak up at night to about 20 yards.   Then we give them pepper. I'm feeling awfully well, and Im too lucky to get hit. Besides (dont tell) whenever a shrapnel shell or a 'Jack Johnson' or 'Tired Tim' comes, I get behind another fellow. Sh sh- not a word. Please deliver or post enclosed to Francie

Lots of love
Ol
