before [indecipherable] he gave me notice that he could not continue to occupy them. I could not compel him, and if I could, it appeared to me that in comparison with other places in Parramatta, the simple payment of £30 per annum was an adequate rent. He was however in addition liable for about £13 yearly Quit Rent; & to keep the place in repairs besides, seemed almost unreasonable.
It was therefore abandoned & being so old and dilapidated, no person would rent the building, nor did I venture to commence repairing lest it should come down. In the meantime the Quit Rent goes on nor can I find upon enquiring that property is increasing in Parramatta [indecipherable] so as to remunerate Mr. Scott for keeping it on and paying this yearly demand wh. is as follows: From July 1829 to July 1833 £27 per annum
