My Dear William

For an account of our [indecipherable] I refer you to my letter to Emmeline - I send you some details of this Colony on w.h you may depend. It has now been settled 6 months during w.h time 23 ships loaded with 7000 tons & upwards have entered & sailed beside four men of War - about 1000 persons - of whom from 80 to 90  are very respectable families of the working yeomanry class in Engd & what you cannot boast of no theft or crime has been committed - There are ab.t 8 respectable Magistrates & twice as many Constables, a company of Soldiers & these constitute the Police & Military of the Empire - There are no Courts as yet, no lawyer & of course no litigation, people settle their own disputes & so they will continue to do very well until they
