I go to [indecipherable] to D Jones. League. I see casually advert.for clothier & mercer. I hope I get it. I go to p'matta & then straight home. I ring Pat & have a long chat. He is very disappointed because I am not going to the Country. I  pack my bag & get ready for off.

I arrive in time. Very very hot day. I meet Lionel Sheldon  and Jessie (Walker) I work all day pretty well. I ring Garland. I sit on lawn & chat until 9.30 I then go in to write & play 500 making a very excellent debut with a undeclared draw. I don't sleep very well even with only a sheet on. I meet all the boarders & I am quite at home

Meet Jinnie Munro.  I meet Jim Wylie. I am alone all morning & do well. Music makes me long for S.P.P.  I am early & just get in door as Dad rings up about petty thiefs. I am delayed after 6 but I get my train. I arrive at 7.55 & take a little tea. P.P. looks very pretty in buttercup. We sit & chat for a long time & get cool. We go inside for a while & get warm. I observe Summer draws on. We get very close & friendly & P.P. nearly gets afraid of me wanting too much of her. We go outside as loving as ever & P.P. tells me that she almost says Gerald would not approve of me. I make up my mind to be different. I am very sad & very sorry & P.P. cheers me most affectionately. My watch stops again but I just catch my 11.30 train
