Thursday 6 October 1921
Ted Goddard Killed. Mrs H goes home
No work, no book nothing to do I I nearly go crazy. I write and write and write and tear up as fast as I write. Orchestras and Bands play miserere score. when other lips & other hearts & other cheerful tunes The day won't get over. I nearly go on smoking packet. Home. afraid to ring up. Go to League who are at smoko so go home to bed. I dream I am a Mr Pickwick The day ends at last and I sleep, worn out by controlling my will. keeping my temper and a sad shock. I ring Mona.
Friday 7 October 1921
I ring P.P. when I go out to see crowd at Mr Storeys funeral I take K's coat home with her to tea after being told by P.P. not to come. We go to the Pictures and coming home I am told off again very definitely. I talk and talk to everyone that I'll forget. my nerves and heart are very strained and I cannot keep my feelings altogether to myself and show them to her above all
Saturday 8 October 1921
I go to work intending to visit Harpers. I decline Otto's visit to Kellana in his new car & arranged take P.P. in the evening. I hear of Dad being worse and I go Home. It comes onto rain. George and Lil come out. I ran with Keith to tram that waits for us. I go to bed at 6.30 pm mum out. I ring P.P. and Mr Harper. XX we meet [.............] on the Punt. I leave P.P. at marie's and come home via Condamine st (20') at 9.30. She is ever so kind to me kinder than ever before.
Sunday 9 October 1921
I work in garden all morning and race for tram and meet 12 boat. I wait until 1 pm boat. We dine with Possum at Esp. Cafe. We sit in the sun for awhile near Point and then go in for a swim. I go first. P.P. looks lovely and her costume is beautifully shaped in the thighs. we come out, listen to band. and then go to 118 addison Rd, to Mrs Dodds. to wharf. to Spit and here we have a delightful chat. xx
