Office of the Resident Commissioner,
Ocean Island, 4th November, 1914
Sir,
I have the honor to confirm conversations held with Your Honour on the subject of the occupation of the Island of Nauru.
(2) In conformity with the instructions from the Commonwealth Minister of Defence conveyed to me by Your Honour, which cancelled those received by me in the letter from the Naval Secretary, dated 13th ultimo, I shall await further notification from His Excellency the High Commissioner as regards the appointment of a Civil Representative of the Government at Nauru.
(3) In the meantime I trust that the Officer Commanding Troops who will be left by Your Honour at Nauru, will advise me if it should lie in my power to forward any supplies, or in any other way to assist the Military occupation of that Island.
