Thursday 29 September 1921
I ring up home I read Pickwick Papers all day I meet P.P. and we dine at Sargents on Quay. We go to N.S. Park and Deluxe Pictures where we meet Kit and Marjorie. Pictures rotten. I have supper and just get my usual boat and the 10.58 tram. I have to Knock Ellis up at 11.40. I know that I must never talk about my ways or feelings again if in town. Just talk about things of mutual interest. Show no regard and only superficialities
Friday 30 September 1921
Ellis takes ¾ of an hour to mow about 10 feet of lawn. I place deposit on a garment. My wife must have been through my pockets amuses an elderly spinster. I go Home early. Play and go to bed early. I ring Mr Harper.
Saturday 1 October 1921
I go to dinner with Ellis and he puts it all over me at Billiards by terrible flukes. I go to Prince Alfred and everybody is well. I leave Mona in tram avec une taille d'amour. I stay with Mr H until train goes and then ring P.P. I dine at the Shamrock and visit Etta. I arrive 7.15 at Flat. We go to town to orpheum but pictures are same as as De Luxe. We go home stay on verandah 25 minutes. I meet Mr Clifford. Kit is very bright and merry.
Sunday 2 October 1921
I get up at 8 am and when rain stops I garden. I mess up the plot and Dad and I do our tempers. I knock off at 4.30 and lie down until 5 pm tea. I then mow the lawn and finish at 6.30 pm. Mum goes to Grannie and aunt Fanny. Bed at 8 pm
