My dearest Elizabeth

Since I was ill my memory is so bad that I cannot remember if I ever answered your very kind & interesting letter -  since which I have heard from Libby that your boy Arthur was ill, I am very sorry to hear this, for, I know it will make you anxious about him. This cannot be a long letter, indeed, I think I have answered your letter to me if not you must excuse me for sending this? but I do not like to answer letters when
