[Penciled 1884]

My dearest and kindest friend

How shall I ever thank
you for all your goodness to us.
May God reward you with
every blessing, I find it
so difficult to hold my pen
I fear you will not able to
read what I write, but I
cannot delay any longer
my wish to write, and tell
you how truly I enjoyed
my visit to Camden Park
and how happy you made me,
at a time of trial, when
I had parted from my last link to
my past happy life, but I
ought not to complain
