the plateau and were able to travel southwards for several miles on good country. we came to a fine creek with splendid horse feed growing about so decided to camp, an extensive quartz reef is be-side the camp.

  Thurs 16. At four miles from camp we desended from the plateau onto a rich plain over which we travelled for four miles, when we struck the western river again, and camped. In the afternoon Fred and I rode out and found that the river at this place emerges through a gorge in the sandstone range and form a large rocky pool.
