     Allen and the two Niggers caught a fine haul of fish in a few minutes, which afforded a pleasant change on salt junk.

   From our camp at sunset the rugged sides, and perpendicular escarpments of Mt [Crockburn?] presented a most unique picture: it must have been an island when the surrounding country was the bottom of a mighty tide river ocean milliads ago.
