to find them and in abrupt gorges or precipeices over which the sparkling waters spurted away into space below. We returned to the camp  very tired, as nearly all this ex-ploring had to be done on foot the horses not being able to pass from one level to another.

   Sunday 5th  We were forced to maintain camp at the Moun-tain Plateau, and we again set out in various direction to find an exit for the pack train. Hugh and I worked hard at making a pathway through the head of a gorge, rolling away boulders of rock many hundred weight, which was no fun for two hours work and then to our disgust we found our passage stopped
