   About 275 miles seventeen days after leaving
Wyndham we crossed a running
stream which Allan named Sepulchre
Creek on account of the native tombs,
and from observations I calcu-
lated we were on our country.
   We then travelled through some
miles of open pine, box, & bloodwood
forest, level sandy loam, sparsely
covered with rank grass, much
of it being the blackoat grass which
grows about 8 or 10 feet high,
and throws a very bad seed which
would be destructive to sheep, but
which lasts only 3 or 4 weeks : in
a few miles this grass disappeared
