called it the Marigui Riv.
At this place in Block 200 it is
about fifteen miles in
a   westerly line across to the main
branch of the Regent Riv. all through
heavily grassed country, alternate
plains and stony hills principally basaltic.
   But after crossing the Regent
Riv the country becomes a mass
of impenetrable sandstone, in
ranges and boulders, over which
it is impossible for horses to
travel. For 30 miles along the
course of the river, we made repeated
attempts to penetrate the country
on its western banks, but without
success. Whenever we penetrated
a few miles on foot the country
presented the same appearance of
broken sandstone with patches of
spinifex & blackoat grass.
