Sunday 29. As the horses are rather distressed I resol-ved to spell here for a day Which will give us time to re-arrange our packs, and make waterbags. This morning I walked to an adjacent rise to take observations of the country over which we are to travel. I sighted a spur of the Leopold Ranges at 231 º but the rest of the horizon presented no distinguish-ing feature.

Mon 30h. Left camp at 8.15 and made good progress. I took a course direct west. at 7 miles _ we crossed a fine rivulet run-ning strongly, and about [20?] yards broad. From that we saw no water till nearly
