Thur 26h. We crossed the Drysdale River immediately on leaving the camp. Some of the party caught several fish in the river last night and we have been surfeiting on fish for supper and breakfast.
Most of journey this morn-ing was through rank Oatgrass 12 to 15 feet high and our packs and clothing are covered with the grass seed. Seven miles from camp we passed a fine creek with clear cool water. Approaching the Carson valley we had to make a very steep descent over the rocky cliffs. I was afraid some of the pack horses would
