route passable for pack horses we got over one range, and struck the creek or as it may be termed - the river - following it we found that it went through a rocky gorge. on the north side the cliffs rose from the river bed to a height of two or three hundred feet. finding it impossible to take horses through this gorge, we hastened to return as it was getting late. we reached the camp about dark. Our present camp is 800 feet above sea level. yesterdays camp at Grasy Plains was 950  

Friday 3rd  I decided to let the camp remain here today while we looked out for a route. Pinadhy who was away looking for a stray horse
