Without a stop it took about an hour to arrive in Sydney, at the same quay where we had docked on the ‘’Montoro’’ at the time. Our steamship, the ‘’Yugilbar”, arrived at the same day as we and so we could board immediately. The ‘’Yugilbar’’ is one of the largest steamships of the North Coast Steamship Co., about 700 tonnes, and commutes between Sydney and Kempsey, the town closest to Trial Bay, which has about 5000 inhabitants. She can take about 40 first-class passengers. Like on old vessels, the cabins are at the stern, grouped around the dining room, and relatively spacious. We elderly gentlemen had decided to follow the Major’s advice and booked a cabin for £1.-/.-. The price included extra food and we also enjoyed the comfort of sleeping in a bed again after a long long time. The food was okay and sufficient, the cabins were clean, and we did not
