are bound to drop some more. We poor tropical beings are consequently shivering from the cold in the evenings and at night, and could not get warm even with the two blankets provided and one’s own. Many of us have caught a cold and are suffering from diarrhoea due to a gastric cold.
Since, as mentioned before, beds etc are not being provided, we had to sleep on our palliasses on the floor. And since the room is so small, we were packed together like sardines, shoving and disturbing each other. Obviously this had to be mended. The comrades who have been here for a while have built two-level bunks from wood that they felled themselves in the adjacent bushland; each bunk accommodates 2 men. We right away ordered such bunks from the German carpenters present in the camp and thanks to this invention we have gained a bit more space in the room for a table and a few stools so that we can at least partake of our meals in a halfway comfortable manner.
