The theatre, which Griffith had ordered closed on the first day of the strike, and the canteen were reopened immediately. Thus the strike has been terminated along our conditions.
The committee works very well. It ensures strict policing of the camp. To this purpose, each company provides 8 men a day, alternating mornings and afternoons, who patrol along the barbed wire and the main path, keeping order, mediating if necessary and, above all, preventing any talk between Pommies and prisoners. The Major expressed appreciation of the organisational skill and so we hope to have laid the basis for a peaceful existence.
