chow day in, day out, except on Mondays we get salt junk in the morning and [indecipherable] for lunch, both not among my favourite dishes. We plan to request some variety to this monotony. However, if you’re hungry, you learn to eat a lot of things, and you’re always hungry due to the open-air existence. Apart from the above-mentioned chow, we also get 3 big loaves of white bread per 10 men in the morning, and 1 Tim Tam per week per man. Tea is always our favourite meal of the day because we always buy some tidbits for it from the camp’s canteen. On Tuesdays and Fridays the canteen offers very nice wholemeal and half white/half wholemeal bread and also various types of sausages from a German slaughterhouse in Sydney. We also had a very nice smoked ham delivered. So for now we’re not starving, but the food the camp provides could generally be better since the stew consists mainly of bones and small, tough pieces of meat.
