Last Sunday, 2 catholic priests celebrated a mass in the theatre, but they didn’t attract
much interest, especially since the clergymen came from outside and the sermon was done in English.
The library we had brought along from Singapore was finally handed over to us, and can now be used by everybody.
Thus the intellectual life in camp has improved considerably and we’re not just moping. If only we had some newspapers; the promised 6-week-old copies have not yet eventuated, but we would so like to hear what’s happening in the world, even if tainted by English bias.
25th July 1915 They say that the internment camp near Melbourne will be closed in the next few days and the German internees brought here.
