Departure is in 2 days, at 8am. On foot to Liverpool, by train to Sydney and then by steamer to Trial Bay, a sea voyage of about 18 hours. It’s said to be an old prison that was refurbished for us, but a very beautiful one. It’s right on the water, and since we’ll be on
‘’partial parole’’, the new place should offer some comfort. They have also said that 2 men will share a room, that is, a cell that measures 7 by 10 ft. This would mean we’d have for 2 men the same space as here for 5, which would be fabulous!
It will be Franzen and I, Schmidt and Recklinghausen, and Brennecke and Wehrs who will
share quarters, which hopefully proves to be a good arrangement. Good old Brennecke is a fine guy but a bit nervous and rather touchy. At night he still talks in his sleep quite a bit and often cries out in anguish, which is not pleasant. I’m thus happy not to have been paired with him. On the whole, our co-existence
