Mentioning Bowmans name makes my heat bleed for tho' he owes his difficulties [?] to imprudence & want of caution I shd. never have accused him of, yet towards so old & valued a friend & as connected with your family I cannot but feel deeply interested & shall feel rejoiced if any better accounts arrive - 

Your wife's sister & G Norman were here at Mr. Ord's in the summer & I am happy to say both looking very well enjoying our mountain air & shooting - God grant both a long & happy life -

Your brother Ed. being now in Ireland I rarely hear from him indeed not since I was in London last March -

In one sense I am glad you are not in Parliament!  for it will give you more time for you to attend your own more important concerns
