Certainly my Dear Macarthur nothing can be more afflicting than the painful state of anxiety & suspense of your poor Mother & Sisters & I really know not how to offer any other consolation than a silent submission to the Will of God whose actions if our [indecipherable] cannot comprehend [indecipherable] such [indecipherable], - Nevertheless that it is afflicting must be admitted & I do earnestly
