Oxford 9 May 1831

My Dear Sir,

My former letter to Bowman of the 26 Ap.l w.h I sent by the Prince Regent will have broken to you the last intelligence of the severe affliction with which it has pleased God to visit you & your amiable family. By [indecipherable] & your loss I hope & I believe it will be borne with the fortitude & resignation which will be required to support the hard & sorrowful affliction of their Mother & Sisters whose delicate health & more tender feelings such a blow will most severely try - I shall most anxiously await a return from
