I met here poor Jabber - he is not one jot altered in looks & talks as much as ever - very [indecipherable] indeed poor devil I pitied him & dined with him once - He gets on very well & deliv.d an admirable charge to the Grand Jury yesterday on their duties - Time has improved his legal Knowledge - They all speak well of him in his duties - I have recvd. great civility from Sir L. Cole who knows your great Man well

I was highly delighted with the luxuriant productions & fertile soil of Java - we landed at Angia [Anjer ?] in the Straits of Sunda & travelled all thro' what they called the least fertile part
