privations exist here as they did & do now to a certain extent in your Colony & a fortune is no easier made. The country from the Coast to the Hills is level in general; there are some small alluvial flats, but the chief part is on a line of sand stone - these ranges are like the Blue Mountains in structure & produce; but I have no doubt beyond these as at Bathurst a good country for grazing will be found - They cannot grow wheat any cheaper than you can, & at first not so cheap, but they can import grain from Java with ease at 3/- P bush. & having no market for corn but a great one at Java for salt fish where they will give £30
