The laborious task of penetrating
the ranges after leaving Wyndham
and also west of the Regent had
taken up so much of our
time, that I was reluctantly
compelled to shorten my sojourn
towards the sea coast. Many
of the horses were beginning to
get leg weary, two of them
afterwards knocked up and
had to be left behind. Allan
became nervous about us per-
ishing from hunger before we
could reach Wyndham, so
on April 21st I broke up the
depo camp on the Marigui
and after a few days travelling
we struck our outward tracks
and followed them as being the
shortest and quickest way back
