Monday 6th  _ Taking Hugh with me at an early hour I proceeded to the rocky banks of the Boa Creek, and we there set to work with pick and hand spike to effect a passage way for packhorses, rolling huge stones out the way and filling up chasms with smaller ones, chopping down trees etc. We had just completed our labours at about 10 oclock when the pack train arrived, and Fred gave us further assistance The horses made the desent safely. From the bed of the Boa Creek we went along the bed of a rocky gorge for a mile and then down a rocky slope onto a little plain
