The above diagrams shows cocoons grown from the same eggs - A by a skilled and careful grower, B by a careless one. B produced from 1/4oz. of eggs only one-tenth of the amount of silk produced by A. From 220 to 240 good cocoons should weigh a lb.; of poor ones it may take 700 or 800, or even 1,000.
