better than usual - she is very thin & almost helpless - but looks better in the face than I expected to see her. She knew Aunt Sarah & spoke a few words to her - but I do not think she understood who I was when Aunt Sarah told her - tho she looked at me several times as if trying to remember something, we stayed with her for a few minutes & then went into the garden, but she sent for us to come back as she wanted to talk - she did not seem able to talk tho - so we only stayed a little while longer & then came away - her butler & maid seem quite devoted to her, & she is not happy when they are out of her sight.

I am so very glad to have seen Aunt Emmeline for I have
