old harbour is a most remarkable bridge called the Pont Transbordeur. It is a very high overhead steel construction, suspending at just over the water level, a platform on which the traffic is loaded & which is then drawn across to the other side by the moving trolley from which it is suspended.
I visited the public buildings & watched a street vegetable market & also wandered about the docks & inspected the shop windows, buying nothing but a couple of French caps.
