about Rome. The only ones I visited were those of St Cecilia out on the Appian Way. They are in charge of monks who conduct visitors through the miles of underground tunnels where the Christians hid & worshipped among the tombs of the dead.
Almost in the heart of the City, beside the Piazza Venezia lies the Forum of Trajan. It is about 12 ft below the level of the city today, & is in use today, but only for the dumping of excess cats & kittens who cannot climb out. The famous Trajan column still stands & illustrates the story of a whole war - Trajan's excursion into Cisalpine Gaul.
