The Cathedral as everyone knows is very fine (Renaissance style) & built of pure marble, in which N Italy abounds. The great doorways & doors are very finely chiselled or moulded in bronze. The treasure of the cathedral is open for inspection, & is very valuable being mostly by gift. The town tomb of St Charles (S. Carlo) lies below.
I visited all the sights, including the Castle of Stefanzo[?], that wonderful book of Italian provincial history, & the famous wall painting "The Last Supper" in an old refectory (whatever that is) by the
