The casino is backed by a fine little town largely consisting of fine hotels, & the whole is most picturesque occupying a headland as it does for its short length between the mountains and the sea.
The American YMCA had taken over a beautiful theatre building & was running it as a YMCA for the crowds of Americans who were on leave in the Riviera which was the great American leave centre.
With some friends from the 11th F Amb whom I had met there I returned throught Monte Carlo which lies alongside the bay & harbour & ascended to the other headland. This
