The profits from the divisional entertainments were very considerable - over £500 a quarter. The members of the troupe were drawn from the division & except for a few allowances were paid solely in the usual way. Much money was spent in costumes & the show was very well staged, & it maintained a very high standard of excellence in musical talent. I only made out the accounts only of the troupe and of the HGs div. regimental fund.
It was against my wish that I had been detailed for this work, but as it entailed only a few hours work per day and entailed comfortable surroundings, I made no effort
