the latter. I bought a flask (about three or four pints) of common red wine at a railway station for about 2/6 & we were soon good friends. Wine the common drink of the county was very dear owing to the war & too dear for general consumption.
Milan I reached about 11pm but I did not succeed in finding an hotel till about 1am. Then it turned out to be one of the best in the town - "the Agnello and Cathedral "& quite handy to the centre of the town. Milan is a very fine
